 Working
from a selection of your favorite photographs, I will create a
sensitive and true-to-life pastel portrait of your companion. Once I
finish your portrait I will email you proofs of the portrait for
your approval before sending out the final product to you, that way
any suggested changes can occur.
When I begin a
painting I always start with the eyes. I feel it is very
important to get them right straight away because I think the eyes
are windows to the soul and the personality of our furry companions.
Other characteristics I look for are the more candid ones, the tilt
of the head or the flip of the ear. I strive to bring out the
uniqueness of you pet.
Photos
I work from
photos that you supply. The photos need to be sharp and clear
with accurate color and detail. I really need close ups of the
head to get accurate details in the face. The best photos are
taken in natural light and at eye level with the pet when possible.
Send me as many photos as you like either by email or postal mail,
4"x6" is a good size. Email me with any questions at

What I Use
All paintings
are completed with artist quality pastels, my preferred pastel
brands are Sennelier, Terry Ludwig, Great American, Art Spectrum,
Rembrandts and NuPastels. I prefer sanded archival acid free
pastel papers such as Wallis, Colourfix and Uart papers.

prices are for one pet with the background of your choice. Each
extra pet is an additional $20.00. Custom sizes are available on
request.

I require a 50%
nonrefundable deposit when I accept your commission and before
starting the painting. Turnaround time depends on how many
commissions I have but I generally have a turn around time of about
2 weeks or less. Please let me know if you need the painting for a
special occasion and I will try to accommodate you if possible. If
you are interested in a portrait for Christmas I would suggest
placing your order at least 6 weeks in advance if possible.
When I have
completed the portrait I will send you a digital copy via email. You
will then have the opportunity to accept the painting or suggest
changes to be made. When these changes are complete I will send you
another updated digital photo via email for your approval. Upon
acceptance I require the balance due after which I will send the
painting to you. Payment can be made either by check or PayPal.
Shipping
Each painting
is shipped flat in either a archival protective cello sleeve or
protected by glassine (depending on size) secured between sturdy
boards for protection. Shipping prices vary depending on the size of
the portrait.
