Ready for
something different? Check out crushed can art! Each "can"vas
is cleaned and crushed as flat as I can get them and then the side I
paint on is coated with gesso and then painted with acrylic paints.
Each can is then sprayed with a clear enamel to protect the paint.
Each can is glued to an acid free mat in a wood frame.
As reported in the New York Times on December 7, 2008 "The economic downturn has decimated the market for recycled
materials like cardboard, plastic, newspaper and metals. Across the
country, this junk is accumulating by the ton in the yards and
warehouses of recycling contractors, which are unable to find buyers
or are unwilling to sell at rock-bottom prices."
